Alibaba’s Incredibly Weird Electric Vehicle of the Week: $2,000 Electric Party Boat with BBQ!

Buckle up, boys and girls! Today I’m going to give you something with an extra dose of both awesome and weird for this week’s entry into Alibaba’s Incredibly Weird Electric Vehicle of the Week! I hope you came hungry. (And also ready to kick off that lunch you’ve been craving.) Because today, we’re diving headfirst into a donut-shaped BBQ party boat fresh from China’s weirdest little corner of the web!

It’s not an electric outboard, and it’s hardly a pleasure cruiser.

It seems to have the hydrodynamics of a bowling ball and probably handles it as well. But equipped with an electric motor slightly more powerful than 1100W and with just the right tailwind, it could possibly get you going in the right direction on your local calm lake or cove.

But you didn’t sign up for a BBQ boat because you wanted high performance. No of course not! You came for the experience, and this boat offers enough good times to last you a lifetime.

The epicness of this donut-shaped barbecue boat simply knows no bounds. I contacted the manufacturer’s sales rep, Frank Zuo, who assured me it was just as legit as it looked, which I guess was supposed to be a positive.

He shared with me some additional details about the boat and its many features. One of the coolest, without a doubt, is that the plastic round table can be equipped with a built-in barbecue in the middle to prepare dinner on the boat.

The fiberglass shell is lined with a stainless steel handle for added safety. There is also a stainless steel diamond plate on the steps to enter the boat, which seems like another good nod to safety.

The last thing you want by jumping onto a hopping and spinning platform that’s inherently unstable is to crash into a lighted barbecue pit. Keeping your footing and having nice grab bars should help.

Back on the tech spec side, the BBQ party boat has a 1,152W electric motor (boy, sure, that’s specific!) and requires either a duo or quartet of 12V batteries. 60 Ah in parallel to give it enough juice to run for more than a quick snack.

Speeds between 6 and 12 km/h (3.7-7.4 mph) would be possible, although I want to confirm this myself. Or rather, maybe I’ll just take their word for it. It’s not my idea of a relaxing Sunday afternoon, although admittedly it’s kind of cool.

But if you and your friends could spend the day dancing while roasting weiners and burgers, then this might be for you. And there are even two different sizes of donuts, depending on how many friends you can associate with this business.

The smaller version measures 2.5 meters (8 feet) in diameter, while the larger version has a whopping 3.2 meters (10.5 feet) in diameter. With so much real estate, you might as well start charging admission and making it an attraction on your local electric lake.

You’d recoup the purchase price pretty quickly, considering you can pick one up for just US$2,690. However, if you get 100 units, the price drops to just $999. Now that’s a deal, baby!

If you want one, let Frank know I sent you. It won’t help you with a discount or anything, but it would still be funny to watch him try to figure out why I have so many friends.

Although I noted that it’s not exactly my pot of tea, I’m still seriously looking at another of this seller’s electric boats that I featured last year.

A nice and simple 5-seater electric boat that doesn’t have all the fancy bells and whistles (like, you know, a BBQ) is a bit more my style. But even I can’t deny how cool this donut-shaped electric boat is.

Don’t go take it off the waterfalls. It’s definitely a “stick to the rivers and lakes you’re used to” moment.
