Al-Futtaim Automotive was one of the pioneers of alternative propulsion in the region when we launched hybrid electric vehicles in the United Arab Emirates in 2008 with Al-Futtaim Toyota. We continue to supply several alternative powertrains such as Toyota, Lexus, Volvo and Polestar.

As an organization driven by a customer-centric approach, we are again leading the way in meeting growing customer demand for green mobility solutions through an exceptional range of hybrid and electric vehicles introduced to the region, ranging from from high-performance luxury electric vehicles to hybrid forerunners. The focus on sustainability is also driven and inspired by the UAE’s vision to lead sustainable development worldwide.

For example, together with Volvo, we offer the Volvo XC40 Recharge compact SUV and the C40 Recharge compact crossover in the UAE, both with fully electric powertrains. Recently, Al-Futtaim Toyota showcased its groundbreaking, eco-friendly technology with the new generation Toyota Mirai, making its UAE debut as the official Japan Pavilion car at Expo 2020 Dubai. Fueled by hydrogen, the cutting-edge Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) delivers a 100% electric driving experience with unrivaled efficiency and zero emissions. Earlier this year, we announced our partnership with Polestar, a pure, progressive and performance-driven luxury electric vehicle brand committed to sustainability. The brand is progressing towards delivering a climate-neutral car by 2030 and becoming a fully climate-neutral company by 2040. We brought the brand to the UAE in the first quarter of 2022 with the introduction of the Polestar 2 high-performance compact sedan .

Al Futtaim Automotive

“We are seeing significant growth in demand for electric vehicles as customers begin to embrace and adopt the new technology. Rising fuel prices and a growing awareness of the dangers of climate change are convincing many people to seek alternative modes of transportation. The UAE infrastructure currently supports the growing electric vehicle technology sector and is growing exponentially.

Beyond the vehicles we make available, we also offer alternative driving modes. In November last year, we announced the launch of our new car subscription service, MOOV By Al-Futtaim, aimed at providing convenient and sustainable mobility for growing customer demand across the UAE. Approximately 25% of MOOV By Al-Futtaim’s fleet is hybrid with 100% utilization and we have seen an increase in customer demand for hybrid vehicles. In 2023, Al-Futtaim Automotive will launch its first electric trucks via FAMCO and will continue to introduce new products and services throughout the year.

As the world continues to design solutions for better sustainable mobility, we at Al-Futtaim Automotive will continue to generate new ideas and relevant initiatives, which support the reduction of CO2 and particulate emissions.

LEXUS NX

Committed to hybrid technology

The most significant upgrade Lexus has made to the 2022 Lexus NX is its commitment to hybrid technology. For this generation of NX — and for the first time in the UAE — Lexus has added a 2.5-litre hybrid engine. With fuel prices set to rise, the switch to hybrid technology makes sense.

Used in fully electric mode, the 2022 Lexus NX achieves zero fuel consumption and, best of all, there are zero tailpipe emissions. Used as a self-charging hybrid, the 8-speed Direct Shift (8AT) continuously variable transmission ensures that your fuel consumption remains incredibly low, reaching 21.5 km/L, which is both economical and environmentally friendly. environment.

Powered by a new 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine, the 2022 Lexus NX can produce up to 275 hp and 430 Nm of torque, delivering all the power and speed you need, when you need it. need.

Ambient lighting: Redesigned inside, the 2022 Lexus NX puts the focus firmly on the driver and passengers. Adding a touch of Mother Nature inside the car, drivers can use the car-themed ambient lighting feature to create the perfect lighting conditions. With 14 preset themes available at the touch of a screen, you can choose from the likes of rainforest, sunset, and waterfall to set the mood for your trip. Plus, there are 64 different ambient lighting colors to choose from.

Contemporary comfort: With the 21st century driver in mind, Lexus has ditched the touchpad screen system of older models and replaced it with two high-definition touchscreen systems. The base display’s premium display measures 9.8 inches, while the optional secondary display is the largest in its class at 14 inches. Each is extremely responsive, with easy-to-navigate menus, making for quick and convenient use. The driver-centric cockpit design was inspired by the relationship between a horse and its rider. The ‘Tazuna’ concept refers to the reins used to control the horse and highlights the higher levels of communication between the rider and the car’s on-board systems. Perhaps the greatest of these innovations is Operation Touch Tracer. Tactile buttons on the steering wheel allow the driver to view a head-up display, which displays key information without having to take their eyes off the road.

RAV4 HYBRID

fuel efficient car

The SUV (from Dh115,900) delivers 218bhp and 221Nm from the 2.5-litre petrol engine, with a further 121Nm provided by the electric motor for quick progress. Complementing this solid performance, the RAV4 Hybrid is a very fuel-efficient car. The RAV4 Hybrid Electric model can run entirely on electricity with zero fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, or by combining power generated from both the gasoline engine and two electric motors, depending on the speed of the vehicle and customer driving behavior. Its hybrid electric batteries are continuously charged either by the gasoline engine or during deceleration and braking, eliminating the need to plug in a power cord, like any other conventional vehicle and requiring no special fuel. On the hybrid model, a newly developed E-Four system has been adopted to achieve both SUV-appropriate AWD handling and high fuel efficiency.

VOLVO XC40 BEV

Designed for modern urban life

The XC40 BEV (from Dh262,000), a compact SUV designed for modern city life, was Volvo Cars’ first all-electric car to be launched in the Middle East. Increasing the use of sustainable materials is just one of the ways the XC40 Recharge is helping to reduce its impact on the environment. For example, the interior carpet is made entirely from recycled plastic. Over 200,000 km, an XC40 Recharge twin-cylinder has a lower carbon impact than a petrol XC40 T5, regardless of the electric charging mix (global, European or wind). The battery has a nominal capacity of 78 kWh. A fully charged battery gives drivers a projected range of up to 418 km in mixed driving before needing to be recharged.

POLESTAR 2

Focused on performance and durability

Polestar, as an electric vehicle brand focused on performance and durability, is a real disruptor. With options such as a vegan interior that specifically deals with plastics, Polestar is also making strong sustainability claims with Polestar 2, releasing its first Life Cycle Assessment report in 2020, with full methodology and transparency, and with a call to the industry as a whole for a consistent, open and transparent way to disclose the carbon footprint of electric vehicles from all manufacturers.

As an innovation leader in the automotive industry, Al-Futtaim Trading Enterprises is honored to be the official representative of Polestar in the UAE and proud to lead the industry towards implementing the environmental vision. 2030 from the United Arab Emirates.

TOYOTA MIRAI

Ultimate eco car

The new Mirai is not only the result of efforts to achieve an ultimate eco-car with superior environmental performance, but above all, to achieve a level of perfection in a car that also offers a fun and comfortable driving experience. It comes with the torque and accelerating power of an FCEV, and quick responsiveness in all vehicle speed ranges. To maximize responsiveness, Toyota focused on body and chassis refinement. The result is a vehicle you want to keep going faster in, but no matter how fast it’s going, it produces zero emissions. Powerful response and smooth acceleration in all vehicle speed ranges. Mirai provides instant torque and maximum acceleration is available from start to top speed. Boasting Toyota’s top-level mid-range acceleration curve, it has the unique combination of powerful and smooth driving performance of an FCEV, taking driving feel to a new level to meet the driver’s needs.
